Iran’s Nuclear Test Banknote

Issued in the year 2007, this new high denomination banknote was a special issue marking the Islamic republic's achievements in nuclear technology. The banknote is nicknamed as the "atomic banknote" by the western media.The banknote comes with the denomination of 50000 Rials and depicts mam Ayatollah Sayyid Ruhollah Mousavi Khomeini on the obverse along with ornate floral designs and the signature of Dr. Danesh Jafari (Minister of Wealth) and Dr. Ebrahim Sheibani (Head of the Central Bank).
Reverse depicts the Map of Iran along with the Symbol of an atom and nuclear power inside it and a Saturn to the right. The note is inscribed with the text referring to Iran's nuclear ambition, a quotation by the prophet Mohammad that says: "If knowledge exists in the Pleiades, some of the Persians would reach it".
