Rare Sultan Coin Might Fetch $10 Million at an Auction

The Sultan of Muscat-Childs-Pogue 1804 silver dollar is called the King of American coins. It was first used as a diplomatic gift in 1835 and then given to Said bin Sultan Al-Said the Sultan of Muscat and Oman. It was bought by the Pogue family at an auction in 1999. It is now with a Corona del Mar resident and will be auctioned at the end of this month in New York. It is also considered to be one of the five rarest coins in the world, according to Stack’s Bowers Galleries in Santa Ana with an estimate price of $7 million to $10 million.Stack’s Bowers Galleries will sell 63 coins including this one with Sotheby’s at its headquarters in New York City. The final sale of the Pogue coin collection is set for September. The first 3 auction fetched a total of over $68 million.
Many other precious coins will also be auctioned at the event.
