Square Silver Rupee of Islam Shah Suri

Islam Shah was the second ruler of the Sur Dynasty; he ruled his sultanate during the mid 16th Century CE from 1545 CE till 1552 CE. He is also known as Jalal Khan. He sat on the throne after the death of Sher Shah Suri.

the coins issued by Islam Shah Suri bears the same legends written on the coins are also similar to the coins of Sher Shah Suri. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king with the name of the king written in ‘Nagari’ at the bottom. The reverse of the coins is inscribed with Shahada with the name of four caliphs in the margin.

This silver square rupee was issued by Islam Shah Suri from the mint Gwalior. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of Islam Shah Suri. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with Kalima.
