President François Mitterrand on French €2 Coin

The 100th birth anniversary of France’s longest-serving president Francois Mitterrand will be celebrated by issuing a circulating commemorative €2 coin in 2016.The obverse features a depiction of Mitterrand along with his personal emblem made of a half oak, half olive tree. Other inscriptions include his name, the dates marking the 100th birth anniversary (1916 and 2016) and initials RF (Republic Francaise).
The common reverse shows a map of the European Union with the outer ring depicting the 12 stars of the flag.
10 million coins are due for release on his birthday – October 26th 2016.
