Akshaya Tritiya Special: Government to Launch 2 New Gold Coins Today
2016-05-09 Mon
It couldn’t have been a more auspicious time for the government to launch a set of two new gold coins. Yes, it’s Akshaya Tritiya and it is believed that buying gold on this day will bring in luck and prosperity into your lives. One of the gold coins will have the image of Mahatma Gandhi embossed on it, while the other will have the Ashok Chakra. The Mahatma Gandhi coin will weigh 5 grams and the Ashoka Chakra one will weigh 10 grams.
The market for gold keeps bustling with energy as customers flock in to jewellery stores and buy some of their favourite yellow metal, during this festival. After the long 45-day jewellers' strike against excise duty hike, gold dealers seem to be extremely excited.
Some expect the sale to be in low numbers due to the continuous droughts across the country and the rising gold prices. Though the concept of gold coins is new to India, people would still prefer buying it for investment purposes. Apart from that, since the government is issuing these coins, authenticity and trust factor would also be high among buyers.
