Fire Fighter Featured on Canadian Coins
2016-05-07 Sat
Royal Canadian Mint issued colourful coins depicting fire fighters - the first release falling under the National Heroes Series. Other four coins which are set for release include: Paramedics (June 2016), Police (August 2016) and Military (September 2016).The Firefighter Silver Coin uses colour over engraving to create a portrait of a fire fighter. The background replicates the dangerous environments in which these heroes work by depicting flames and smoke coming out of a residential home. The fire fighter is holding bolt cutters in his right hand and his left hand is cradling a rescued dog. Other inscriptions include ‘CANADA’, ‘2016’, ‘15 DOLLARS’ and the artist’s initials, ‘KR’.
The obverse features the common Queen Elizabeth portrait.
