Did you know, all our official documents and papers like the Passports, Visas, court papers, etc. are printed in one press? Well, The India Security Press which is situated in Nashik is charged with the task of printing passports, visas, postage stamps, postcards, inland letters, envelopes, non-postal adhesives, court fees, fiscal, and Hundi stamps in the country.

The Indian security press is a unit of Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India lmt (SPMCIL) which is a public owned company of Government of India. The Press is under the administrative control of a general manager who is the head of department and also ex-officio controller of stamps in India.

Established in Nashik in the year 1928, it was the first printing press for bank notes in India. By 1932, this press was printing the entire spectrum of Indian currency notes. The main objective of Indian Security Press is to provide products which need high security printing to various departments of Government of India. In Indian security press all products are processed through various channels to ensure all the security aspects.

The SPMCIL has 9 production units which comprise of 4 India Government Mints, 2 Currency Note Presses, 2 Security Printing Presses and 1 Security Paper Mill.
