The Royal Canadian Mint is celebrating the 40th baseball season of the Toronto Blue Jays by releasing a 99.99% pure silver coin.

The coin features a red and white wave just like the team’s colours, flowing behind the silhouette of a player sticking the ball. The inscription "40” indicates four decades of play since Toronto was granted its MLB franchise in 1976. The team’s official logo also appears in the background. Other inscriptions include ‘CANADA’, ‘20 DOLLARS’, ‘2016’, and the artist Joel Kimmel’s initials, ‘JK’.

The obverse features the common portrait of the Queen along with inscriptions ‘ELIZABETH II’ and ‘D G REGINA’.

The Royal Canadian Mint also donated $25,000 to Jays Care Foundation which works for the welfare of children.
