The issuance of the currency is controlled by the Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank of Nepal. The Nepalese rupee was introduced in 1932 when it replaced the Nepalese mohar at the rate 2:1. The note specifications are as follows:The obverse has the portrait of King Gyanendra Bir Bikram wearing a plumed crown to left; Seated Devas Indra; Thyangboche (Tengboche) monastery; Old coin. The reverse depicts the Himalayan Tigers; Coat of arms; Bank logo. This note has the portrait of Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev as its watermark.
