Shah Shuja al-Mulk Gold Mohur Listed For INR 70000

Shah Shuja al-Mulk also is known as Shuja Shah Durrani Khan was the fifth ruler of the Durrani Empire. He ruled the Durrani Empire two times; his first reign starts from 1803 CE till 1809 CE and his second reign starts from 1839 CE until his death in 1842 CE. Before sitting on the throne of the Durrani Empire he had also served as the governor of Herat and Peshawar from 1798 CE till 1801 CE. He proclaimed himself as the king of Afghanistan in the year 1801 CE after the deposition of his brother Zaman Khan. But, he got a proper hold on the throne of the Durrani Empire in the year 1803 CE.

This gold mohur which weighs around 11.09g was issued by Shah Shuja al-Mulk was issued by him during the 1st year of his reign. This was issued in the Hijri year 1218 from the mint Bahawalpur. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of King Shah Shuja ul-Mulk. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the Julus formula and mint name. This gold mohur is listed for INR 70000 in the upcoming auction of Oswal Antiques which will be held in Pune on 16th November 2019.
