The Nepalese rupee is subdivided into 100 paise. The issuance of the currency is controlled by the Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank of Nepal. The Nepalese rupee was introduced in 1932 when it replaced the Nepalese mohar at the rate 2:1.

Obverse: King Birendra Bir Bikram wearing a plumed crown to left; Parliament Building in Kathmandu; Hanuman Dhoka (Hanuman Gate) Old Royal Palace in Durbar Square in Kathmandu; Dragons; and Old coin.
Reverse: Pillars with chinthe guardian semi-lions in front; Himalaya mountain peaks; Sacred bull; Coat of arms; and Bank logo. This multi-coloured note has a Plumed crown as its wateramrk.
