New 20 Pound banknote featuring Artist J.M.W. Turner

The design for a new 20 pound polymer banknote was released recently by the Bank of England. This series of new notes scheduled to be issued from February 2020, are said to be the “"most secure" banknotes to date. These purple coloured notes have the self-portrait of the nineteenth century English painter J.M.W. Turner as the subject of the reverse of the £20 bank note scheduled for release in 2020. It also incorporates Turner's signature from his will, scenes from his paintings, and a quote from an 1818 lecture by the artist: "Light is therefore colour."
The obverse of the note follows the regular pattern and has a portrait of the HM Queen Elizabeth II, which is printed on the window with "£20 Bank of England" printed twice around the edge, and a metallic hologram that changes between the word "Twenty" and "Pounds" when it is tilted.
A large see-through window with a blue and gold foil printed on the front of the note depicts the Turner Contemporary gallery in Margate, England. The gallery was also the venue for the release of the banknote! The entire design of the note draws inspiration from Turner’s well-known works.
A 2 Pound note is Britain's most common, and most forged, banknote. To make it harder to counterfeit, the new £20 note has incorporated extra security features including two windows and a two-colour foil.
