Bharat Ratna and Gold, Silver <i>Hon</i> Displayed at 25th Shukla Day Coin Fair

The 25th Shukla Day exhibition took place from April 22 to April 24, 2016 at the Expo Centre at WTC, Mumbai. The annual exhibition marked the birth anniversary of S.M. Shukla, the curator of Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalay. On display were the gold and silver Hon and the copper Shivrai issued by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Bharat Ratna conferred upon Gulzarilal Nanda who served as the Prime Minister of India in 1966.The Bharat Ratna was awarded to former PM, Gulzarilal Nanda and is in custody of his grandson who loaned it to the organisers of the 25th Shukla Day Coin Fair to be displayed to the public. No museum has this prestigious award on display.
The gold and silver coins on display were issued during Shivaji’s coronation. The coins read “Sri Raja Shiv” on one side and “Chhatrapati” on the other.
