J.M.W. Turner, one of the most influential British artists of all time will appear on the new £20 polymer note which will be introduced in 2020. His brilliant works bridged gaps between the classical and modern worlds.

The reverse of the note will feature J.M.W. Turner’s c. 1799 self-portrait which is currently displayed in the Tate Britain; another painting, ‘The Fighting Temeraire’; his quote - “Light is therefore colour” from an 1818 lecture by Turner and his signature from his Will.
