Tatya Tope Remembered on Commemorative Coins

Rs.20 and Rs. 10 commemorative coins were issued yesterday on 19th April, by the Government of India to pay homage to the 1857 martyr Tatya Tope.Tatya Tope was captured by the British forces on 7th, 1859 and was hanged to death on April 18, 1859 at Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh for waging a war against the East India Company.
There are official plans to construct a memorial to Tope at Yeola in Nasik and a war museum in Bhopal as well.
