World Humanitarian Day

Every year on 19th August the United Nations celebrated World Humanitarian Day. It is recognised to pay tribute to aid worker who risks their lives in humanitarian service and to rally support for people affected by the crises around the world. This year United Nation is celebrating #WomenHumanitarians WHD Campaign. This day follows the theme to honour the world of women in crises throughout the world. The focus is on the unsung heroes who been working on the front lines in their own communities in some of the most difficult terrains from the war-wounded in Afghanistan, to the food insecure in the Sahel, to those who have lost their homes and livelihoods in places such as Central African Republic, South Sudan, Syria and Yemen. Women humanitarians dedicate their lives to helping people affected by crises. UNPA also issued a commemorative stamp sheet in 2013to mark this Nobel event.
