Cape Coral Collection of German 3 Marks

Heritage Auctions is going to offer the Cape Coral Collection of German 3 Marks on 15th August during ANA World’s Fair of Money World Coins Platinum Night Auction in Chicago. The collection is comprehensive and is also termed as a reference collection by many. A lot of effort and time went into building this amazing collection which includes every type in this series. A rare 1918-D Proof 3 Mark from Bavaria is also a part of this collection. Experts believe that only 10 such coins exist today. The condition of every coin in the collection is also exceptional. A lot of them are the finest for their types.

Other highlights from the collection include: a Proof 3 Mark struck at Berlin mint in 1915 under the rule of Ernst August for Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel in PR66 Cameo PCGS condition, a Proof 3 Mark struck at Berlin mint in 1917 under the rule of Ernst Ludwig for Hesse-Darmstadt in PR64 PCGS condition, a silver Proof Pattern 3 Mark coin struck at Berlin mint in 1905 under the rule of Wilhelm II for Prussia in PR66 NGC condition, a silver Proof Pattern “Wedding Anniversary” 3 Mark coin struck at Stuttgart mint in 1911, under the rule of Wilhelm II for Wurttemberg in PR63 NGC condition and a Proof “25th Anniversary” 3 Mark coin struck at Stuttgart mint in 1916 under the rule of Wilhelm II for Wurttemberg in PR66 PCGS condition.

The 3 Mark coins were introduced by the German Empire as a mode of payment for daily transactions. Its value was between the smallest denomination issued under the Reich and the largest local denominations. Gradually, its demand increased for trading purposes which led to the production of diverse varieties. Some Proof and commemorative types are famous all over the world today.
