Almost 40,000 coins have been found so far at the world's largest hoards of Celtic coins – The Jersey Hoard, which was discovered by metal detectorists Richard Miles and Reg Meade in 2012.Recently, a rare leather purse made of one sheet or bootlace strands was found for the first time along with the coins. It measures 8cm across and 4cm deep and is joined at one side to two rings for fixing it to a belt.
The team from Jersey Heritage have been working for the past 18 months on removing the coins one at a time.
Officials state that finding an intact purse containing coins inside is very rare.
