The Toronto Coin Expo is Canada’s premier coin and bank note collectible show, located in downtown Toronto in the Toronto Reference Library. Coin Collecting For KIDS - FREE!! May 5th, 2018 10am Christopher Boyer & Jeff Fournier A workshop for the young (and young at heart!) who want to learn more about what beginners can collect. We will also see how chocolate coins are made, which are “strikingly” similar to how the Mint makes coins! Chocolate coins (as well as real ones) will be available to sort into your collection. Free to young collectors in attendance at the Coin Expo! Reserve your spot today (recommended for kids 8+) 1pm François Rufiange - Grading difficulty - Spotting traces of wear! This presentation, followed by a hands-on workshop, focuses on learning about detecting traces of wear. In other words, learn more about the differences between the Mint State (MS) and the About Uncirculated (AU) grades. You will learn about evaluating wear, its location and how best to examine a coin to make that determination. We will also present a detailed review of current Canadian Numismatic grading documentation, including the latest grading guide by André Langlois. We will show detailed pictures at the macro level to help you see the differences between AU and MS coins. Following this 45 minute presentation, we will, in groups of two, actually examine coins in those grades and challenge you to spot the differences.
