Saint Mother Teresa Commemorated by Croatia Post

To mark the canonization of Mother Teresa, Croatia Post issued has introduced a specially designed philatelic item.

Mother Teresa was born on 26th August 1910, in Skopje, Macedonia, to parents of Albanian heritage. She spent most of her life in India and founded the congregation of the Missionaries of Charity in 1950 in Calcutta to serve the poorest of the poor. Mother Teresa is recognized worldwide for her dedication to helping the poor. She spent her life in Calcutta, India for the betterment of the poor and needy people of India who were banished from the society.

Hence, following her 106th Birth Anniversary, Roman Catholic Church has decided to declare Mother Teresa as a saint in the recognition of her act of kindness. Mother Teresa earned the honours of being named St. Teresa of Calcutta (Kolkata) on 4th September, at St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City.

To mark this meaningful event, Croatia Post issued a new commemorative stamp honouring this merciful person! This stamp comes with the denomination of 7.60 Croatian kuna which depicts the portrait of Saint Teresa on a calm grey background.
