Gold Coin of Sultan of Kashmir Hasan Shah

Hasan Shah (AH 876-889, AD 1472-1484) was the sultan of Kashmir. He succeeded his father Haidar Shah. He had issued coins in gold, silver and copper. Weight of his copper coins had reduced in the later years of his reign. His gold and lead coins are very rare. His lead Double Dinnara is also known as ‘Dvidinnari’.His gold coins read as ‘Nigin-i-Mulk Khatam-i-Sulaiman hasan Shah ibn Haidar Shah Sultan’ on the obverse, meaning of ‘Nigin-i-Mulk Khatam-i-Sulaiman’ is ‘Signet of the Kingdom, Sulaiman’s seal’. And Kalima ‘La ila il Allah Muhammad Rasul Allah’ in the center within the circle, mint name ‘Hiza al dinar dar-al-saltanate Kashmir’ and date 876 written in the margin on the reverse.
His Gold coin was listed in Todywalla Auction at INR 2, 50,000-3, 00,000, in February 2016.
