Mulk-i-Tilang coin of Ghiyath al din Tughluq

Ghiyath Al-din Tughluq (720-725; AD 1320-1325) was the founder of Tughluq dynasty. He had issued coin in gold, silver, Copper and Billion. His gold and silver coin of all the mints has same legends except ‘Mulk-i-Tilang’. His ‘Mulk-i-Tilang mint has the ‘Ghiyath’ legend; whereas the other mint has the legend ‘Al-Sultan Al-Ghazi’.Ghiyath Al-din Tughluq had captured Warangal along with the other parts of Telangana during his reign. His gold and silver coin of Telangana mint was struck for the years of 724 and 725.
His gold tanka of Mulk-i-tilang mint which weighs around 11.04 has the legend “Ghiyath al dunya wa al din nasir amir al-mumin” on the obverse and “Al-Mutawakkil lal ilah abu muzaffar tughluq shah” within a circle on the reverse. Mint name and date are written in the margin.
