Bahmani Sultan Muhammad Shah I's Coin Sold for INR 3, 00,000!

Muhammad Shah I (760-777; AD 1359-1375) was the ruler of Bahmani Sultanate. He was the son of Ala Al-Din Bahman Shah and the second ruler of Bahmani Sultanate. He had a series of war with his neighboring kingdoms of Vijayanagar and Warangal.His gold dinar of Hadhrat Ahsanabad mint which weighs around 12.8 gm was sold for INR 3, 00,000 at Classical Numismatic Gallery in an Auction Held on 21st December 2013. Obverse side of the coin reads as “Sultan Al-Ahad Wa Al-Zaman Millat Rasul Al-Rahman Abul Muzaffar Muhammad Shah bin Bahman Shah Al Sultan” and the reverse is inscribed as “Muhammad Hasan Bahmani” within the centre circle; mint name Ahsanabad and date 773(in words) in the margin as “Darb Hizz Al-Dinar Fi Hadrat Ahsanabad Sanah Thalath Saba’ in wa Sabaamayah”. This coin is extremely rare.
