Finnish Philosopher Georg Henrik von Wright Honoured on Coins

The 100th birth anniversary of the great liberal Finnish philosopher Georg Henrik von Wright (1916-2003), will be celebrated with the launch of new €2 coin on 17th October.He was born in Helsinki when Finland was a Grand Duchy in Russia and published his amazing works about logic, the philosophy of science and the philosophy of action in English, Finnish, German, and Swedish. He held the highest post at the University of Helsinki and was a professor at the University of Cambridge. He was undoubtedly the most influential Finnish philosopher of the 20th century who shared his views on the social issues of his times and was also a popular personality on TV.
The obverse features a branch of oak leaves and acorns with an old marble column. Other inscriptions include GEORG HENRIK VON WRIGHT, 2016. The reverse features the same design as that of the standard €2 coin.
The mintage limit of the 2 €uro Bimetallic 8.5 g Circulation coin is 989,000 and that of the 2 €uro Bimetallic 8.5 g Proof coin is 11,000.
Pre-orders will begin on 3rd October and the delivery will start from 17th October. Proof strikes come with special packaging; Uncirculated coins also come in 25-piece rolls and Mint of Finland–branded 10-piece bags.
