Germany to Celebrate the 500th Anniversary Martin Luther’s 95 theses on new Coins

A €50 gold coin with a rose seal celebrating the 500th anniversary of the 95 theses issued by Martin Luther in 1517 will be included in Germany’s commemorative 2017 coin program. These theses influenced world’s politics, religion and culture greatly and the coins would be released in the first half of 2017.When Luther was staying at the Coburg Fortress during the Diet of Augsburg, the rose seal made of a cross, a heart, the flower and a ring was designed as instructed by John Frederick of Saxony in 1530.
The obverse features the federal eagle, GERMANY, €50, the respective Mint marks, 2017 and the 12 stars of Europe. The coins would be struck at 5 different mints.
The Uncirculated .9999 fine gold coin would weigh 7.778 grams and the mintage limit will be declared next year.
