5,000 1oz 99.9% pure silver collector proof coins have been issued by the Perth Mint of Australia as a legal tender for Tuvalu to celebrate the 50th anniversary Star Trek depicting the unique delta shield insignia of Starfleet.

Star Trek was a TV show which was first aired in 1966 and went on for three seasons. Many Star Trek television series and more than 12 major motion pictures have been produced ever since that.

The reverse features the Star Trek shield insignia and a ’50’ to mark the 50th anniversary of the show along with the trademark inscriptions. The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with inscriptions TUVALU, 2016, QUEEN ELIZABETH II, 1 DOLLAR and 1 OZ 999 SILVER.

The coins are priced at AUS $104.55 and presented in a "space-age" acrylic display case within a themed shipper along with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
