Mongolia is a nation bordered by China and Russia. It is known for its vastness, rugged expanses and nomadic culture. Its capital, Ulaanbaatar, is centred around the Chinggis Khaan (Genghis Khan) Square, named for the notorious founder of the 13th- and 14th-century Mongol Empire.The togrog or tugrik is the official currency of Mongolia. It was historically subdivided into 100 mongo. Currently, the lowest denomination in regular use is the 10-togrog note and the highest is the 20,000-togrog note.
Today let’s see a 20 Togrog banknote issued in the year 2002. The note specifications are as follows:
Obverse: Dark maroon and multicoloured. The young portrait of Sukhe-Bataar is seen on left vignette and coat of arms of Mongolia in the centre. The denomination in Mongolian and English numeral with serial number is seen on the top right and bottom left. A vertical panel with a legend in Mongolian script and design is seen in the centre left with signature beside it.
Reverse: The legend in Mongolian script it is seen on top. The scene of grazing horse is seen in the centre-right. A vertical panel with a legend in Mongolian script and design is seen in the centre left. The denomination in Mongolian script is seen on the bottom right and denomination in both Mongolian and English numeral is printed on left top-bottom and right top corner.
