Silver Tanka of Razia Sultan Sold for INR 50,000

Raziya Sultan was the first woman ruler during sultanate period, she ruled the Delhi Sultanate for the duration of four years, her governance till date is said to be the most systematic form of government and so was her coinage.Raziyya Sultan kept the memory of her father, Itutmish, alive by depicting his name on this silver tanka coin.
This silver tanka of Razia Sultan mint in Lakhnauti weighs around 10.4g. The obverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Al-Sultan Al-A'Zam Jalalat Al-Dunya Wa 'L Din Malikah Ibnat Iltutmish Al-Sultan Nasrat Amir Al-Mu 'Minin’. The reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Fi had Al-imam Al-Mustasim amir Al-Muminin’.
This silver tanka was sold for INR 50,000 by Todywalla Auction held in Mumbai on 20th April 2018.
