Whitman Publishing Seeking Volunteers for Encyclopaedia of Obsolete Paper Money

2017-04-29 Sat

Whitman Publishing is inviting volunteer editors for states to work on the future editions of a multi-volume “Encyclopaedia of Obsolete Paper Money”, including Indiana.

The series was released in 2014 and since then, as many as eight volumes, each 400 to 800 pages long have been published. New England and South Atlantic states have already been covered. Six more editions would be required to complete the series.

Editors are needed to work on collecting authentic information on Obsolete currency notes from the Middle Atlantic States, the Midwest, and territories like New York, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. Whitman Publishing team will work hand-in-hand with the volunteers to monitor the entire process.

Paper currency notes issued from 1782 to 1866 are obsolete notes. They were issued before federal paper currency during the Civil War was introduced. Over 3,000 state-chartered banks released their own paper money in thousands of varieties. Information on grading, rarity, values in multiple grades, significant auction results, advice for collectors etc. is offered through this series of books.
