First Ever Chicago Coin Expo Scheduled on 5th April

2016-02-08 Mon

The first Chicago Coin Expo will be held from 5th to 8th April at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St. More than 1,000 coin and paper money collectors along with 75 dealers are expected at the event. Coin experts from around the world will attend the event. Feature auctions and educational forums will also be conducted.

The Chicago International Coin Fair, held in Rosemont, Ill., was discontinued because collectors and dealers wanted a rare coin show to be held in downtown Chicago.

Auctions will be held from 5th to 8th April by Gemini Auction and Heritage Auctions. The 1942 experimental Proof 64 glass cent will also be on display from 4th April at Harlan J. Berk Ltd., 31 N. Clark St., in Chicago. The coin is a part of an alternative composition study by the U.S. Mint as a replacement for copper. The coin was sold for $70,500 in Heritage’s January Florida United Numismatists sale.
