A 1960 Rome Summer Olympics medal that was awarded to Soviet sprint canoeist Aleksandr Silayev has an estimated value of more than $6,000. Italian painter and sculptor Giuseppe Cassioli designed the medal in a bronze laurel wreath bezel.

The reverse features an athlete, with a palm branch and the stadium in the background. The Italian sports name CANOA is also depicted on the obverse.
