Silver Half Rupee of Tipu Sultan with Retro date

Tipu Sultan was a Muslim ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore based in South India. He introduced several innovations during his rule, including a new coinage system and calendar.This silver quarter rupee of 2.7g was issued by Tipu Sultan during his rule from the mint Patan during the Mauludi year 1218 during the 8th year of his reign.
Tipu Sultan had named all his gold, silver and copper coins. The silver quarter rupee he issued was named Baqiri.
The obverse bears the legend Muhammad Huwa As-Sultan Al-Waheed Al-Adil Sahan retro date 1218. The reverse is inscribed with Sanah 8 Baqari He Pattan.
