Ferdinand Porsche: Electric Autocar Stamp

A Multicolored commemorative stamp was issued by Austria on January 27, 2023 which was printed in sheets of 10; it shows the portrait of Ferdinand Porsche with the electric-autocar he designed.

Ferdinand Porsche was the Austrian-German engineer who founded the Porsche automobile; Amongst his creations viz., Volkswagen Beetle, and the Lohner-Porsche, the first hybrid automobile.

Early in his career, Ferdinand Porsche was active in the development of electric automobiles. He conceived and manufactured the "Egger-Lohner electric car, C.2 Phaeton type" in 1898, which became known as the "Porsche-electric vehicle" or "P1" for short. It was one of the world's first electric automobiles, capable of achieving a high speed of 56 km/h (35 mph). Porsche passed away in 1951.

The Porsche P1 was a commercial failure, but it highlighted Porsche's early interest in and proficiency in electric vehicle technology.
