Manabendra Nath Roy, popularly known as M.N.Roy, was an Indian revolutionary, radical activist, political theorist and a well-noted philosopher of the 20th century. He was the founder of the Mexican Communist Party and the Communist Party of India. He was the leader of India's communists until the independence of India in 1947.

M.N. Roy started his career as a militant political activist. In 1915, he left India, searching for arms to organize an insurrection against British rule in India. His interest in political and social issues made him get involved in various Indian groups interested in overthrowing British colonial rule through acts of terrorism.

After India gained independence in 1947, Roy abandoned communism and became a founder of radical humanism.

The Government of India issued his commemorative stamp in 1987 to commemorate him and his work.
