The apsar is a currency of Abkhazia. While the coins are legal tender in the Republic of Abkhazia, their usage is very limited, and the coins are mostly made for collectors. The National Bank of the Republic of Abkhazia issued a 20 apsars coin among the series of clothing and weapons of the peoples of the Caucasus. The coin depicts on the obverse Abkhaz warriors from a famous photograph of the second half of the 19th century by D. I. Ermakov "Abkhaz Deputies". On the left side of the field, there is a solar sign consisting of 11 soaring eagles, under it the face value “20 Apsars” and the date 2019. The right side of the field is inscribed with the Bank of Abkhazia and the state emblem of the Republic of Abkhazia.
On the reverse in the central field, there is a colored pad printing image of a warrior in a short light brown cherkessian coat and a grey bashlyk resting on a flintlock gun armed with a dagger and a saber. The image is enclosed in a decorative frame with traditional Abkhazian ornaments, in the upper part of which there are inscriptions in the local language.
