Haidar Dughlat was a military general and ruler of Kashmir. Being a maternal cousin of Babur, Haidar Dughlat fought for the Mughal Emperor Humayun and issued coins in the name of Humayun.
Haidar Dughlat was the son of Muhammad Husain Kurkan. Haidar Dughlat did not issue any coin in his name; he issued his coin in the name of Mughal Emperor Humayun in gold and silver. His gold coins do not contain mint name and date, But the Shahada with the name of four Caliphs name is seen on the reverse. Whereas his silver coin contains mint name and date on the reverse.
This square Sasnu which weighs around 6.2g was issued by Haidar Dughlat during his rule in Kashmir Sultanate. He issued this coin in the name of Mughal Emperor Humayun. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name of the title of Mughal Emperor Humayun. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the mint name Kashmir.
