Seleucid Empire ruler Antiochos I Soter Silver Tetradrachm

The Seleucid dynasty was the Greek Macedonian royal family, they ruled the region situated in the Hellenistic state in Western Asia. This dynasty was founded by Seleucus I Nicator, he had served as an officer of Alexander the Great, commanding the élite infantry corps in the Macedonian army. The Seleucid Empire was the major centre of Hellenistic culture; this dynasty had empowered the Greek customs and languages.

This silver Tetradrachm was issued by king Antiochos I Soter during this rule. The weight of this silver Tetradrachm is around 16.87g. The obverse of this coin depicts ‘Bust of the king Antiochos I Soter facing towards right’. The reverse of this coin depicts ‘Apollo Delphios, testing arrow and placing a hand on the grounded bow, seated left on an omphalos, monograms to the outer left and right’.
