Diamond Glitter on Latest Canadian Coin

2016-10-25 Tue

The Royal Canadian Mint has yet again issued a unique 99.99% pure silver coin in collector proof quality featuring the Polar Bear by using diamond particles for recreating the shimmering effect of daylight on snow and ice. Selected design elements are carefully coated with diamond particles evenly.

The reverse features a polar bear across a rugged terrain. The snow-covered hills in the background appear in colour and special diamond glitter recreates the scene on the coin beautifully. Other inscriptions include 20 DOLLARS and GL for the artist Glen Loates's initials.

Obverses feature the common portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt along with the inscriptions ELIZABETH II, CANADA, D G REGINA, and 2017.

The Mintage limit of the 99.99% pure silver 31.39 grams proof 200 Dollars coin is 7,500 and each coin costs CAD $114.95.
