2016-10-10 Mon

The much awaited and talked about British Numismatic Trade Association’s 38th annual show, COINEX took place on 30th September and 1st October at the Millennium Hotel in Grosvenor Square. The event was a grand success with more than 80 British and foreign dealers doing good business along with an increased attendance of visitors and collectors.

The show offered a wide variety of coins, medals, tokens, banknotes, books, and antiquities for sale as well as auctions. Compared to last year’s show, there were many American and European dealers, who made the most of the increased exchange rate between the dollar and Euro due to the Brexit vote.

On the first day, early visitors and dealers were given a chance to buy and view collections before the general public was allowed at the event. Even after heavy rains, many visitors flocked in on the second day.

COINEX dealers also participated in the Dix Noonan Webb auction of coins and historical medals, the Spink & Son auction of ancient, British, and foreign coins, and, the Baldwin’s Auctions sale of world coins, commemoratives, and banknotes.

Sponsors of COINEX, St. James’s Auctions, held two events, one of 29th September, which included British and world coins, medals, and banknotes. The second event was on the 30th which included choice Islamic and world coins.
