2017-07-06 Thu
The Father of Nation is a term which does not need any introduction or clarification it is an endearment used to address ‘Mahatma Gandhi'. It is taught in our school since the primary, but do you know it's not the official title! This title has not been officially accorded to Mahatma by Government of India but still, it is how Gandhiji is known to Indians.Gandhiji is addressed by many names but for his follower, he was ‘Bapu', for Rabindranath Tagore is was ‘Mahatma' but above all this, he was the preacher of non-violence. His ethics had influenced many thinkers all around the world and encouraged them to fight against injustice.
One such charged freedom fighter who was impressed with Gandhi's thinking was Subhaschandra Bose but he followed his own path for freedom struggle. It was he who addressed Gandhiji as ‘Father of Nation' in a radio broadcast from Singapore today in 1944.
In 1947 Sarojini Naidu called him with this endearment title in a conference and later on in 1948 after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru called him ‘Father of Nation' while addressing the nation about this death.
His whole life he fought against injustice, his thoughts were acknowledged and appreciated by the world.
