Revamped avatar of INR 1000 to be out soon!
2016-11-12 Sat
“Bhaiya chhutta hai kya?”The problem that has been unsettling the common man is finding change for these new INR 2000 notes! ‘Sorry No Change’ is something which we struggled even with the, now scrapped, INR 500 and INR 1000 notes. But worry not; the Government has lately assured that it will issue new “Change”.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is all set to issue INR 50, INR 100 and INR 1000 currency notes in new designs and with new security features. Though the exact date of the issue is still not clear, we can expect these new avatars of the notes to come sometime in next year.
Let’s not panic. This problem is only of temporary nature and until then, those who can, please proceed with your transactions online or by credit and debit cards. Those in utter need of cash can also withdraw it from the bank branch directly. There is a limit of INR 10,000 per transaction and INR 20,000 per week, over and above INR 2000 daily from ATM.
Let’s support and keep patience with the banks and its employees as this is a huge responsibility on them too. They have to meet with the statutory requirements and handle the confused customers. They too are putting in extra efforts and extra work hours to help us out.
The Government, the RBI, and other Banks are doing their part. Let’s act our part well too :
• Let’s not rush to Banks for exchange if we have enough cash to sustain for a week.
• Let's be smart and withdraw from ATM and not visit branch and crowd it further.
• We have a lot of time (until 30th December 2016) to deposit our old notes.
• More notes would be in circulation from next week.
• Most important: Let’s not fall for any rumours.
There are many guidelines issued by the right authorities to help us. Follow them and support this historic step taken by the government to fight against corruption, black money, counterfeit currencies, and terrorism.
