Department of India Post issued Rs. 5 stamp commemorating Martyr Mahadevappa Mailar. Mailara Mahadevappa was a prominent Indian freedom fighter from Haveri district of Karnataka. He had accompanied Gandhiji in his famous Dandi March. He organized a group of youths and commenced a sort of guerrilla warfare against the government. The stamp depicts a portrait of Mahadevappa Mailar.
