Narwar is a town and a Nagar panchayat situated in a Shivpuri district in the Indian States of Madhya Pradesh. In one of the medieval Sanskrit inscription, it is also known as Nalpura, the mention of Nalpura can also be seen in Naishadha Charita written by Shriharsha. The Narwar Fort is surrounded by Kali Sind River.During the medieval period, Narwar was occupied by Nawaries of Chambel Valley, they are also known as the founder and ruler of Gwalior. In the 12th Century, Narwar was captured by Parihara Rajputs. Later, in the 13th century, it came into the hands of Yajvapala Dynasty, the Yajvapala Dynasty had established Narwar as their capital. This town also has its link connected to Mughal Empire; the writer of Akbarnama; Abul Fazl ibn Mubarak was assassinated at Narwar when he was returning from Deccan by Vir Singh Bundela.
This silver rupee was issued by Mughal Emperor Ahmed Shah Bahadur during the 3rd year of his from the mint Narwar. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king. The reverse of this is inscribed with the mint name and regnal year.
