The Calendar of Unusual Holidays by Polish Post
2019-07-20 Sat
Poland issued 30 interesting sets of postage stamps called “The Calendar of Unusual Holidays” recently. Each set contains 12 stamps which are arranged in such a way that they appear to be a part of a single illustration. The individual design on each stamp also looks very attractive. Jacek Walesiak designed the stamps which celebrate offbeat occasions such as Winnie the Pooh Day, Sock Day and Donut Day.Walesiak believes that the commemorative stamps issued by Poland in the 1960s and 1980s featured more creative and quality designs than the ones that are being issued today. Unusual days such as Towel Day, Mushroom Day and International Spin the Bottle Day etc. are highlighted through this beautiful stamp collection. Each stamp in every set mentions the country name, denomination and holiday name. Jacek Walesiak and Robert Mendel are the creative directors of UVMV creative agency which is into visual brand strategy. The studio has worked for clients such as Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw; shopping, arts and business centre Stary Browar in Poznan, and the National Audiovisual Institute, to name a few. Walesiak graduated from Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and loves graphic design, photography and urban space projects.
