BEP’s Apollo 11 $50 Currency Set is Out Now

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing released a commemorative currency set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. It contains an uncirculated Series 2013 $50 Federal Reserve note, with a serial number starting with the historic year date“1969” along with an engraved version of a photo of Buzz Aldrin on the Moon, taken on 20th July 1969. Neil Armstrong can be seen as a reflection on Aldrin’s visor along with the US flag, and the lunar lander. This reflection is embossed in the offered set. The note comes in a clear, acid-free, polymer sleeve. The engraved print shows a limited edition number that’s also the last four digits of the serial number on the $50 note.The sale of this special currency set began on 16th July 2019. Only 6,000 such sets have been released and each one can be purchased for $85.95. Those who want 10 or more such sets will get it at a discounted rate of $82.95 per set. The purchase limit was set to 10 sets per household for the initial 24 hours.
