Shahjahanabad was one of the most important cities of Mughal Emperor; It is the 7th city of Delhi built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1639 CE and 1648 CE. Today this city is well known as Old Delhi or Purani Dilli. It was a long-cherished dream of Emperor Shahjahan to create the world’s best city in India. This city is spread over a large area along the banks of river Yamuna in the southeastern parts of the Delhi triangle. The reign of Shah Jahan had contributed a lot in Mughal Architecture. The creation of the royal palace and royal fort Qila-e-Mubarak is better known as Lal Qilla or the Red Fort took almost 15 years. The city is built by grand markets, havelis, palaces, gardens, streets, and avenues began flourishing, The fort Lal Quilla is marked as the ‘jewel’ in the ‘crown’ of the city of Shahjahanabad.For almost 30 years the city Shahjahanabad was marked as the capital of the Mughal Empire. It was also marked as the cultural center of the Mughal Empire were art, poetry, music, all flourished.
The gold mohur was by issued by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan from the mint Shahjanabad during the 39th year of his reign in the Hijri year 1107. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king Shah Jahan and reverse of this coin is inscribed with the kalmia.
