Princely State Kotah Gold Mohur Listed For INR 3,50,000

This gold mohur of princely State Kotah is listed for INR 350,000 in the upcoming auction of Todywalla which will be held in Mumbai on 20th July 2019.Kotah was a princely state during the time of British rule in India. Today it is situated in the North-western part of India; it is a city located in Rajasthan State. During the 18th century, it was subdivided out of Bundi State. Both Kotah and Bundi together use to constitute the track called Haraoti, the country of the Haras, to which race the Rulers of the two States belong. But, later Kotah was subdivided from Bundi. The rulers of Bundi or Maharao of Bundi belong to Chauhan clan of Rajputs.
This gold mohur was an issue by Ram Singh II in the name of Mughal ruler Bahadur Shah II. The weight of this coin is around 10.9g and it was minted in Kotah urf Nandgaon. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of Bahadur Shah II and the reverse of this coin is inscribed with the mint name, regnal year 20 with flower and leaf symbol.
