Patiala was one of the Princely State during British rule in India; it was self-governing Princely State of British Empire in India. This state was the Phulkian State of India; the meaning of Phulkian is the places were Sikh rulers and aristocrats in the Punjab region of medieval India. They are Bhatti Sardar.State Patiala was established in the year 1763 by Maharaja Ala Singh; a chieftain who laid the foundation of the Patiala fort known as Qila Mubarak, around 'which the present city of Patiala is built. It got its name after Maharaja Ala Singh the Sindu Jat of Patiala. Before, this state was known as Patala which was changed to Patiala over a period of time.
This one-third mohur was issued by Bhupinder Singh in the name of Ahmed Shah Durrani.
