Norway is a Scandinavian country encompassing mountains, glaciers and deep coastal fjords. Oslo, the capital, is a city of green spaces and museums. Preserved 9th-century Viking ships are displayed at Oslo’s Viking Ship Museum. Bergen, with colourful wooden houses, is the starting point for cruises to the dramatic Sognefjord. Norway is also known for fishing, hiking and skiing, notably at Lillehammer’s Olympic resort. The krone, plural kroner, is the currency of Norway and its dependent territories. It is subdivided into 100 ore. The name translates into English as crown. In 1877, Norges Bank introduced notes for 5, 10, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 kroner.
Today we are looking at 200 Kroner banknote issued in 2015. This blue, white, and pink note celebrates the famous Norwegian author Jo Nesbo. The obverse depicts the author’s portrait to right along with a bird to left, bat and construction site in centre. The reverse depicts the author's bookends; Human skull in profile and Fingerprint.
