Cuddappah is also known as Kadapa; it is a city in the Rayalseema region situated in the south-central part of Andhra Pradesh. The word Kapada is originated from the Telugu word ‘Gadapa’ which means threshold or gate. It is considered as one of the backward of probably one of the most remotely situated districts of the State. The history of the Cuddappah carries the footprints of some of the most honoured rulers of South India like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Tipu Sultan, Haidar Ali, Krishnadevaraya. The city has also been under the rule of Nizams and Cholas.This copper cash was issued by Nawab of Cuddappah as vessel of Tipu Sultan from the mint Kadiri during the Hijri Year 1202. The weight of this coin is around 1.47g. The obverse of this coin depicts a lotus design. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with mint name and date.
